On the 3rd of April, I’ll be taking on a 6‑hour endurance run in Suffolk alongside my good friend Chris Denby, all in support of our chosen charities.
I’ve chosen to run for Men’s Minds Matter, a charity doing incredible work supporting men and young men who are struggling with their own battles. Having lost friends and seen others lose theirs to suicide, I know how vital this work is. Men’s Minds Matter tirelessly supports those who feel they have nowhere to turn, helping to prevent suicide and self‑harm.
After serving over 20 years in the military, I’ve witnessed first-hand how many colleagues carry the weight of what they’ve experienced. While support exists, the stigma around speaking openly about our feelings is still far too common. “Not the done thing,” as many would say but that mindset costs lives.
Now that I’m no longer serving, I’m putting myself back into the hurt locker for a different mission: to raise money and awareness so men know it’s okay to talk, and that people will listen.
If you’re able to support, share, or simply spread the message, it means more than you know
