Joel was two years old when I first met him, and he stole my heart immediately. Joel sadly passed away in February 2021. We had a lot of fun and mischief in those 17 years, and I loved every smile and laugh he gave me.... even with the occasional eye roll when he thought I was embarrassing! I would do anything to get him to laugh at me, even if that meant wearing something ridiculous to get a reaction... Hence the turkey costume. When I started thinking of Joel and doing something in his memory, I knew it would have to be something silly. In those 17 years before Joel passed away, he showed me what being brave is really about. Whenever I think I can't do something, Joels right there with me, pushing me further. This year I want to give something back to him by raising money for a charity that supports families in similar situations. The Bradford Inclusive Disability Service (B.I.D.S) Was founded in 1975, starting as a book and specialist toy lending service for children and young adults with various disabilities. Today they are so much more, B.I.D.s offer support and advice for families, helping with things like DVLA forms to health care plans and arranging events, activities, and holidays where families can connect. I know what a difference this charity makes to people's lives.Any donation, big or small, is appreciated to keep this fantastic service up and running. I appreciate your support, Kirsty x
(Meg will be running with me as turkey support just in case if I fall and need help getting back up!) (Also, there's a chance in June that I may finish the race as a roast turkey).
Finally.......Why did the turkey cross the road?To prove he wasn’t chicken.
