Here at the Beehive Cafe we are incredibly passionate about our ‘Pay it Forward’ scheme. It’s a discreet way for those on low incomes to benefit from the generosity of others.
We offer support to local families and individuals known to us who are facing financial difficulties. We also provide support to those who are referred to us by Citizens Advice, Homestart, Elmbridge Family Centre, Surrey Children’s services, Age Concern, Surrey Lifelong Learning and other agencies.
The scheme is simple. Customers can choose to buy a ‘suspended hot drink / meal’ for someone to claim at a later date. We stamp one of our Pay It Forward cards with the amount donated and keep it safe for later use at our discretion.
The scheme isn’t just for people on low incomes. We’ve all been in situations where we don’t have cash or access to funds. Maybe you lost your wallet, it’s the day before payday or you are a student on a low budget. None of these should exclude you from having a free cuppa or a snack and this scheme makes this possible.
The scheme operates at the discretion of our cafe staff who love to be able to support people in this way.
“The Pay It Forward scheme has been a lifesaver when I am short of funds and can’t afford to take my kids out for a treat.”
“It’s heartwarming to know that someone has offered to help people like me who are struggling.”
“I was really touched when the cafe staff told me that someone else had paid for my meal. I hope to be able to do the same when I am back on my feet again. Thank you.”
