This is the 10th anniversary of the Ring of Fire.
It all started with one person Gary who is still the driving force but now assisted by a great team as wee as those who take part in the mad cap adventures.
With this being a big anniversary we have many adventures planned including:
Big RoF - 160 miles through Belgium visiting WW2 memorials, ceremonies etc
MKRUFC Ladies Ride - 50 mile ride RoF and from the club.
Juniors/Parent Ride - A Redway ride for the youngsters.
Numerous social events at Stade EV the home of MKRUFC
I am pleased and honoured to say I have been involved in many of these events and now assist where I can with the organising committee.
My input is normally in the plotting of the routes the volunteers are going to cycle and then to help make sure they are safe and fit for purpose.
This means I am often lucky enough to ride the routes more than once, it also means I get most of the abuse at the end on the days riding from other participants. It doesn’t matter as we are all striving to help great causes.
The greatest aspect of the Ring of Fire and the reason we have continues to do it for so long is to raise the £100,000’s that we have to date.
This means we have been able to significantly support local charities such as:
Willen Hospice - Milton Keynes
MND 4Ed - Ed Slater an ex MKRUFC player
CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young
We have an ambitious target this year of £100,000 and with the generosity we always experience we hope to reach and beat it.
