For many in our communities, this is a frightening time. Anti-migrant voices are louder and more influential than ever – on our streets, in our media and in the halls of power. The government is introducing cruel immigration policies that seek to entrench the hostile environment for migrants. They propose that many of those granted refugee status will have to wait 20 years before they can settle permanently, while closing the Refugee Family Reunion route. The 'Right to Family Life' is also under attack and could see children in our community deported. On top of this, the far right is marching on our streets and in some cases targeting migrant support organisations because of the work we do to stand up for and alongside migrants. That’s why HMSC needs your support more urgently than ever.
At HMSC, we work tirelessly to provide expertise and support to ensure migrants of all backgrounds can access justice. We work to empower them to take ownership of their case, and we campaign alongside our visitors for an end to the hostile environment. This year, our goal is to raise £15,000 for HMSC so that we can continue to provide vital, holistic support and advice for our visitors.
This Christmas, we have chosen not to use any match funding options because many of these funders profit from the UK’s detention/deportation systems, or from arms sales that drive forced migration. That means we need your help more than ever to reach our goal.
We believe in a world where all migrants can live with dignity, safety and joy in our communities. We’re fighting to make that world a reality, but we can’t do it alone.
