Support the Hippodrome Theatre’s “Raise The Roof” Project

Nestled in the heart of the Calder Valley, the Hippodrome Theatre has been the centre of creative life in Todmorden since 1908. We are proud to be the UK's largest volunteer-run theatre, and now we are embarking on an ambitious project to secure the future of this beloved venue for generations to come.

The “Raise The Roof” project will see the refurbishment and extension of the Hippodrome, transforming it into a fully accessible community space. Plans include a new community cinema, additional storage and rehearsal areas, and improved accessibility for performers and audience members alike. We will also create new spaces to allow our vibrant Youth Theatre to expand, enabling more young people to explore the performing arts and technical theatre.

Our project is part of the Todmorden Town Deal scheme and will cost £2.1 million to realise. Thanks to the hard work of our dedicated volunteers and supporters, we have already secured £1.6 million in funding, but we now need to raise the final £500,000 to make this vision a reality.

We need the support of our local community to help us reach our goal. Any donation, large or small, will bring us closer to securing the future of the Hippodrome.
