ROF2026 (10th anniversary)
Name: Gordon(El Gordo, Gordy, Fat boy)Stevenson.
Age: Entering my 65th year on planet earth.
Events: 2 day, 170 mile bike ride./Dragon boat racing/36 hour spinathon and others
Charities: Willen Hospice Willen Hospice | Compassionate Care for the Community
MNDA / 4ED MND Association | Fighting motor neurone disease
C-R-Y Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)..
"I HATE CYCLING" (haven't sat on a bicycle since 05/2022) but am fit(ish) and able, where many are not, so back on with the lycra for a two day 170 mile ride in France/Belgium which will include two stops to lay wreaths for those that gave up their lives in the Great War, 1914-1918.
I am told this is a straightforward, easy ride with few or no bumps in the roads, however this will not prevent me from performing at least one comedy dismount! (Over the three rides completed thus far I have managed to fall off my trusty steed a total of 11 times, much to the amusement of those looking on) My less than caring "friends" will no doubt film me sprawled on the ground and share with all and sundry.
UPDATE 17/05/26: Ride completed 14th and 15th/05. As predicted I fell twice, the 2nd fall damaging my shoulder and elbow to the extent that I could not finish the ride...gutted. To honour my words of cycling 170 miles I have now agreed to undertake a one off 100 mile ride on a spin bike..05/06/26.
UPDATE:06/06/26 - 100 miles done
As a group we will be striving to break £100,000 barrier again thus all donations are gratefully accepted and I thank you in advance for your generosity.
As with all other ROF rides all costs for these events are covered by myself and/or external sponsors.
