At a time of so much misinformation, fearmongering and hate, I felt it was even more important to show compassion, love and welcome to those who need it. We once considered ourselves a 'Christian' country, and that translated to British values of compassion, tolerance and love for our neighbour.

Those values have never been more important to rediscover than now.
