Ballymoney | Community Support & Development
Armoy Community Association was set up in 1994 to transform Armoy. It was a dilapidated and dreary community, with very little spirit across the community and a very poor aesthetic environment! Over the last 21 years, and for the next 21 years, ACA will work to continue to transform the community. Transform relationships across the divide, transform the look of the place, transform the future for our young people!
Why the community needs usOur benefits includes the running of the community centre which accomodates a cross community playgroup, cafe, pharmacy, hairdressers, community office and hall, and HQ for the local motorbike club. We also take responsibility for looking after our shared areas, the community gardens and footpaths through employing an environmental worker. We run an annual summer scheme which benefits over 120 children from both sides of our community. The benefits in Armoy are tangible!
Our impact on the communityResults? The results of a cross-community centre are felt by the customers of the café everyday, the 24 children at the playgroup, the mothers at the SureStart Club, the 120 children and their parents at the summer scheme, the 100s of people who pick up their prescriptions at the Pharmacy each week, the people who can enjoy the Riverside Park, or who can shelter in the bus shelter. All these things have been developed by the community association, and the results are real!
