Carolyn JUMPS for Conductive Education Bristol
I (Carolyn Brewer) will be doing a tandem skydive on the 20/06/2016 at 20.00 to raise money for a charity close to my heart. I am scared to death of heights but I am doing it for a good cause hoping I can raise a good amount of money to help the continuation of Conductive Education Bristol. Conductive Education Bristol began as a pilot project in January 2014 offering free Conductive Education sessions to families of children under five with cerebral palsy and similar motor disorders in Bristol. Since the pilot project began they have received interest from families from the Bristol area and beyond and have extended their services to offer sessions for Primary aged children also. Donations/ sponsors can help buy equipment needed as well as much more. The reason it is close to my heart is because a good friend of mine little boy (Harley) attends these sessions. Harley has Schizencephaly which is a rare birth defect that involves slits or clefts in the cerebral hemispheres of the brain. These clefts may appear on either one or both sides of the brain. Schizencephaly can cause severe gross and fine motor delays, microcephaly (an abnormally small head), and poor muscle tone, partial to complete paralysis, bone deformity, and muscle atrophy. Witnessing first-hand the hard work and joy Harley gains from these sessions has inspired me to jump 15,000Ft out of a plane, to ensure their good work continues and other children like Harley get to experience opportunities to develop and thrive.
