Arts Uplift helps people improve their health and wellbeing through the power of creative arts.
Arts Uplift enables people to improve their health and wellbeing through the power of creative arts. We are a non-profit organisation serving communities in Coventry, Warwickshire and the wider Midlands. Our courses and activities, many of them free, range from songwriting for wellbeing to dementia friendly movement to music sessions.
Arts Uplift uses a wide range of participatory arts in projects such as reminiscence storytelling, creative writing, dance, music, film and arts and crafts. Our artists work alongside participants to co- produce original arts products such as new songs, films, stories, artworks, dances and theatre to explore people’s stories and also raise awareness of mental health conditions like dementia, anxiety, depression and low mood. In this way, work is produced by the community we are working with, and is relevant to their needs and particular situations, so that they can develop new skills, build self- confidence, improve well-being and tell their story their way.
We have six areas of work;
Older people (Rewind 1970’s the play, Suitcase Stories,)
Adults living with dementia (Suitcase Stories, Arts and dementia Warwickshire, Navigating Margaret the play)
Adults who are on probation (Create to Motivate)
Adults with low to moderate mental health conditions (Inside Stories)
Intergenerational work (Bridging The Gap)
Training in arts workshops delivery (Get Inspired)
The impact we have on our communities ranges from improved confidence, self-esteem, physical and mental well-being, creative expression and development, making new friends, reducing isolation, creating a sense of community and improved mobility and cognitive skills. This can lead to life changing results such as getting a new job or motivating people to do the things they want to do and building resilience.
