Back to Books began as a Reading Group but has now become an arts group. Many of the members see arts activities being delivered in their work settings but have no opportunity to take part in them. The group aims to create opportunities for members of the community to engage in high quality art workshops, run by professional practitioners, exploring our chosen themes. We have staged many successful projects focusing on literature, family history, drawing, improving health, fitness & creativity.

Why the community needs us

Members of Back to Books are all "givers", people who are the backbone and mainstay of workplace, home, family or social network, people who are often overlooked because they are busy coping or supporting others. Our aim is to develop skills, confidence and the opportunity for members of the community to bond and forge links via arts activities and events. We also aim to enable artists/members to create work to engage the community through arts activities.

Our impact on the community
