Providing support and acceptance for sufferers of misuse and addiction in Sheffield
Ben's Centre is a day centre for sufferers of substance misuse in Sheffield. We provide a day service Monday - Friday providing support, sanctuary and acceptance for people who are affected by substance misuse and associated issues such as dependency, rough sleeping and street culture.
We provide breakfast, drinks and a hot lunch, as well as access to fresh clothing and sleeping bags, showers and hygiene essentials. We aim to be a one-stop shop for our clients - hosting a range of other professionals such as housing officers, medical professionals and dependency workers so vulnerable people can address all of their needs in a familiar, supportive environment. The day centre is safe and welcoming space where clients can take respite from their chaotic and often isolating lives on the streets. Whilst at the day centre, clients are welcome to socialise and relax, play pool or board games, watch TV and use the computers. We also run weekly creative activities sessions including music, gardening and arts & crafts.
We are Sheffield's only damp centre, which means clients who are under the influence are still welcome, so long as substances aren't brought into the premises. This is important as most services do not allow people who are under the influence - resulting in vulnerable people with substance dependency being excluded from the support they need.
