We strive to make Berwick upon Tweed a better place to live, work and visit. We provide services directly to residents including advice, training and a foodbank. We invest in buildings and social enterprises to create jobs and wealth and keep them in the town. We support others to deliver benefit for the town through sharing expertise and resources and we lobby decision makers to secure investment in the town.
Why the community needs us
Berwick Food Bank and Here for You are our main customer facing support services. These services run together where our specialist advisers will assist the Food Bank customers deal with the crisis they are facing. Advice and support around benefits and budgeting will be given, ensuring that every customer is receiving the correct benefits that they are entitled to, help them make claims where appropriate and undertake budgeting sessions to identify savings that can be made.
Here for You also supports residents with advice and training on benefits, budgeting and job seeking.
We also run a support service for local young carers and run a community building that is visited by more than 400 people every week.
We also have a dedicated Destination, Marketing and Development officer who is working with local festivals and groups to promote Berwick upon Tweed as the go to visitor destination. We maintain the Visitberwick website and the social media pages.
Our impact on the community
In 2022 we supported 548 households with food support, 842 adults and 536 benefitted from this support.
