St. Neots | Community Support & Development
Black Cat Radio is for the people who live, work and study in the area of St Neots, Cambridgeshire. We provide a music-led service which promotes community organisations and activities for the area, and supports local specialist music. Members of the target community contribute to the operation and management by volunteering. We are a not-for-profit organisation - a community interest company (CIC) - that ploughs any surplus income back into the station and the service we provide to the local community.
Why the community needs us
The service provides a range of benefits for the target community, both on-air and off-air, including a better understanding of the community and the strengthening of links within it. We raise awareness of charitable organisations, social issues, health and wellbeing. We constantly promote youth organisations, sports groups, schools projects, local groups and their events, fund-raisers, local live music, local talent, and events run by the town council and other major organisations.
Our impact on the community
Our transmission covers a population of almost 300,000, many of whom benefit from the information and support we provide on a regular basis. In promoting organisations and businesses, we further develop the social network that helps strengthen the community we are part of.
