Kirkby | Community Support & Development
Transforming lives since 1963 - Centre 63 is a youth and community centre providing advice, support & guidance, based in the heart of Kirkby.
Centre 63 is a Youth and Community Centre, established in 1963 and today it remains one of the longest established youth and community centres in Knowsley. Centre 63 currently provides the following services:
YES (Youth Enquiry Service) Project - Offers information, advice, and practical support for the most vulnerable people within the community on issues such as debt management, housing, and homelessness, from resettlement and tenancy support and support to access property pool to benefit related advice and guidance and debt management.
Social Supermarket - Established in July 2020 in response to Covid-19 and a cost-of-living crisis, we currently support on average 180 families per week to access a weekly shop for just £10. The project now operates 4-days per week and is staffed by volunteers, who have reported an increase in self-confidence and improved wellbeing since giving back to the community. The supermarket has become an invaluable community resource and vital support for families struggling with increased costs.
Youth Club - For Juniors (ages 8-12) and Seniors (ages 13-18) to take part in free activities 3 nights per week. Our open access provision provides a safe and supervised environment where young people can gather, interact, and take part in activities such as; sports, drama, arts, etc. Our youth workers play a crucial role in helping young individuals form strong, positive relationships, build confidence and learn important life skills. We recently secured further funding to extend our open access provision to provide diversionary activities with hard-to-reach young people who are either involved or at risk of becoming involved in criminal or anti-social activity to overcome barriers and take control of their lives.
