We all have personal experience of disconnection and loneliness - whether your own or someone you love. Being isolated for prolonged periods is deeply bad for our health. It is likely that, like us, you have also observed that widespread loneliness is deeply bad for society too, creating the conditions for division and hate. Having understood this link between loneliness/isolation and social fragmentation/democracy, we have come to realise that connection in community is at the heart of the solution to almost everything.

We need more connection and community in the UK - without it we are unhappy, unhealthy, divided and disempowered. There’s only one way to build connection, community and togetherness: from the bottom up! come up with 32 practical actions we can all take to build connections in our own lives and within our communities, as well as build bridges between communities: 32 Steps to Togetherness.

Through 32 Steps to Togetherness, we’re supporting grassroots organisations like them - from a diverse range of communities across the UK. We are also bringing them together to establish a UK-wide ‘community of community leaders’. The Steps to Togetherness manual provides the shared vision for everyone to unite behind.

What are we doing to build this movement?

• Building a vibrant online community

Who are we?
We are a non-profit that provides affordable and free support to organisations that are advancing health, equality and social solidarity in the UK. We formed our community interest company in 2011 to bring our evaluation, fundraising, strategic thinking and design expertise together; and to make a positive difference to the civil society and public square.
