Islington | Community Support & Development
Copenhagen Youth Project empowers disadvantaged youth in Islington through diverse programs and activities, fostering personal growth and community improvement.
At Copenhagen Youth Project, our mission is simple yet powerful: to engage and empower children and young people, providing them with the choices and support they need for personal growth and learning.
We offer a safe, nurturing, and youth-led environment where disadvantaged young people can flourish. From our humble beginnings over 20 years ago as a grassroots initiative addressing local challenges, we have grown into a respected local charity with a strong record of success, backed by committed long-term funders.
Our diverse programmes include mental health and wellbeing support, employability training, community projects, and opportunities for new experiences and personal development.
Why The Community Needs Us
Located in North Kings Cross, London, we serve an area with significant pockets of poverty among the most deprived in the country. We provide activities such as sports, arts, music, trips, mentoring, and enterprise initiatives for over 300 disadvantaged young people. These activities are designed to boost aspirations, enhance achievements, and help young people build a brighter future.
Our Motto: 'By Youth, For Youth'
We believe in empowering our members to take an active role in shaping our project. This involvement not only provides leadership and work experience but also builds their confidence as they transition into adulthood.
Our Impact On The Community
Our programmes have a tangible impact. Participants in our football sessions report higher self-esteem, motivation, and confidence. Those involved in our cultural activities have created art installations with the Wellcome Collection, developed a youth area at the annual Cally Festival, and produced short films. It is proven that 68% of young people at CYP showed increased aspirations and a stronger desire to learn.
Join us in making a difference. Your support can help us continue to inspire and empower the next generation.
