Making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged young Londoners through the medium of food
Who we are:
is a London based Charity that teaches young people fundamental cooking and nutrition skills. We run bespoke cooking courses for at-risk youth in and around London in partnership with youth projects, community centres, homelessness charities and schools. We have recently started engaging with young people virtually reaching them via Instagram
and Zoom.What we do:
Eat Club reconnects young people with the positive, healthy and pleasurable aspects of cooking and eating through the provision of convivial, bespoke sessions which improve physical health, social wellbeing and equip young people with the skills needed to eat well throughout their lives.
Our courses are designed to develop the relationship young people have with food and address the underlying barriers to healthy eating thus improving health, physical and mental wellbeing. The courses also promote tangible skills, which are valuable in the workplace and will help attendees when seeking employment. Our team:
Our team consists of highly skilled and motivated session leaders who draw upon their varied expertise in research, academia and culinary arts to devise and deliver sessions. Our session leaders all have the confidence to tailor sessions to the group’s needs and requests. Session leaders are also trained in safeguarding practices, which are critical to creating an inclusive, safe and relaxed environment. We create a relaxed, inclusive environment in which meals are prepared as a team and eaten together at the end of each session. Our approach transcends the classroom and facilitates long-term behaviour-change.
