Our aim is to develop an exciting and creative hub, embracing cultural, educational and economic activities to revitalise the historic centre of Sowerby Bridge
Why the community needs us
The project will create a purpose built venue to provide community training and to house arts, music and cultural events as well as providing space for other community activities. The creation of a community centre on its own is not enough to effect social, cultural and economic change so the proposed site also provides commercial areas to provide a revenue stream to ensure the sustainability of the community centre
Our impact on the community
We have recently started an emergency project, working with Calderdale Council, to save the buildings from further deterioration due to leaking roofs and dry rot. We are about to start the second phase of this work which involved stripping out rotten plaster and removing ceilings to enable the structure to be treated.
