Grandads Front Room works in Bognor Regis and the surrounding area to relieve poverty, social deprivation and financial distress, to break down social isolation, and to be a first stop for signposting and practical help.
We are the only organisation in Arun district that gives free furniture and whitegoods without any criteria beyond need. We currently help c.25 families a week with a number of free resources including clothing, furniture, white goods and foodbank vouchers. We are open 5 days a week.
We empower our community by offering open, non-judgemental access to our support services, and many of our clients are referred to us after being prequalified by sister agencies. Grandads Front Room is seen as a one-stop-shop by the community, and we constantly receive referrals from other voluntary organisations and members of the community as well as self-referrals including multiple tags on Facebook when someone posts to say they are in need.
Every donation will help us to address the needs and disadvantages of our community’s most vulnerable and impoverished families and individuals, including the homeless. We are often overstretched as the cost of living rises, because we need to cover our overheads by selling white goods and furniture as well as giving them away to those in need, plus the costs of purchasing and delivering emergency food, etc. Donations keep us afloat, so we have to retract or limit the help we can offer to focus on fundraising through shop sales.
