Community Interest Company hosts Faversham Fringe, promotes local arts, and offers inclusive events year-round.
Hand of Doom Productions CIC is the not-for-profit team behind Faversham Fringe—the town’s annual performing arts festival each October. It’s a joyful, grassroots celebration of creativity, showcasing local talent and bringing bold, brilliant performances to the heart of the community.
What many people don’t realise is that the Fringe is entirely self-funded and run by volunteers. Each act pays just £40 to take part—and that small fee covers everything: insurance, accountancy, venue hire (some donated, some subsidised), marketing, brochures, and essential equipment. We give artists 80% of their ticket sales and support them with box office, front-of-house, technical assistance, and publicity.
We’ve never had large-scale funding—just a few small sponsorships over the years—but we’ve built something big with very little, and we want to keep it going.
Your support helps keep the Fringe accessible and exciting. Donations help us offer low-cost tickets, “pay what you can” events, and free shows so that cost is never a barrier to enjoying the arts.
Beyond the Fringe, Hand of Doom runs creative events year-round. These include Comedy Lock-In, a monthly comedy night in Faversham; interactive story trails; family workshops; and improvised theatre through Flock Improv, performing regularly in Folkestone and Faversham.
We are a Community Interest Company (CIC), which means we’re not-for-profit—and all income is reinvested into the cultural events we create.
Whether it’s someone’s first time on stage or a new audience member discovering live performance, we believe the arts should be welcoming, inclusive, and fun.
Thank you for helping us make the magic happen.
