Support Your Local Food Bank Give what you can, so every family can get what they need
The Hornsey Food Bank is an independent, community-led food bank, supporting over 800 people a week. From the end of September to the beginning of October we saw a 15% jump in numbers of those attending weekly. This number continues to rise week on week at an alarming rate. It is clear that many people are experiencing hardships from the current cost of living crisis which means many families and individuals are facing very tough decisions weekly. We are here to continue to provide a warm, friendly and non-judgemental welcome to anyone who needs to visit the food bank. We work on the principle that we all need help at some stage in our lives, and we are here – as neighbours helping neighbours – to offer that support.
"The food bank helps immensely, especially in school holidays. It's a lifeline. Treats like hot chocolate, tinned custard and biscuits are important to allow children to feel normal." - Food Bank User
"I'm 60 and on income support, after bills my money is all gone. I look forward to this every Thursday." - Food Bank User
The food bank was started in July 2020 in response to Covid-19 and the changes in the personal circumstances of many. Over a year later, the need for the food bank remains evident as the number of visitors per week continues to increase with many families are reliant on the Hornsey Food Bank and the community spirit of people like you. Thank you very much!
