Inclusive Journalism Cymru is shifting narratives, driving systemic change and building a fairer society for all of us.

We're using our collective power to confront prejudice and discrimination by telling stories which reflect diverse perspectives, rebuild trust and reclaim journalism.

We’ve designed and delivered pioneering projects addressing underrepresentation, trust and media sustainability at Welsh, UK and international levels.

Cymru & I (2023): We produced Wales’ first essay collection centring underrepresented Welsh voices, exploring identity, belonging and representation — expanding what Welsh public interest journalism can be.

Inclusive Media Development Lab (2023): We designed and delivered (in collaboration with Creative Wales, the Institute of Welsh Affairs, Startup Migrants, Media Cymru and others) a groundbreaking programme embedding business sustainability skills, knowledge and practical experience in the Welsh media ecosystem.

Inclusive Recruitment Guide (2024): We produced a member-led toolkit for media organisations to transform hiring practices. This guide has had global reach and is now being used and referenced by organisations worldwide.

Research Impact: We proposed, co-designed and co-delivered the Mapping Public Interest Journalism in Wales study; contributed expertise to the Welsh Government’s Public Interest Journalism Working Group and the Expert Panel on the Devolution of Broadcasting. Presented at national and international conferences and industry events — sharing insights to help raise standards across the sector.

News for All / Newyddion i Bawb: We designed and led a pioneering research programme, with international impact, that's now being used as a model for journalism organisations across the world. After securing funding for community-led participatory research into trust and information needs in Welsh communities — we're now expanding this work to scale the benefits across the country.
