We try to combat loneliness and social isolation by taking elderly and disabled people out in our specially adapted minibuses with volunteers to drive the buses and push wheelchairs and ensure everyone is able to enjoy their day out. We visit theatres and concerts, stately homes and parks. We ride on steam trains and narrowboats. We share pub meals and picnics.
Why the community needs us
We pick everyone up at their door and take them home at the end of the day so people who have difficulty leaving their own home can confidently enjoy a day out with us. Once settled on the bus there are volunteers and other service users to talk to in a friendly atmosphere. By the end of the day we hope everyone has stored enough memories to last until the next trip. We benefit the community by reducing loneliness
Our impact on the community
Service users tell us that they like the happy atmosphere on our outings and 'Help with Humour' offered by tour volunteers.
