Healthy Options is a charity working with people who have, or are at risk of developing, life-long health conditions. We deliver a specialist service which supports people to learn the skills and tools to self-manage their health and wellbeing.
Healthy Options
ADAPT is a 12-week Specialist Programme for people who are newly diagnosed or require specialist support.
ADAPT helps clients learn the skills, tools and coping strategies to improve their own health, wellbeing and quality of life whilst living with a long-term condition.
It costs circa £700 per client on our
ADAPT 12 week programme.
Healthy Options
THRIVE service which is a community programme for people requiring minimal support with self-management strategies and adopting healthy behaviours. THRIVE offers clients the chance to belong to a community of like-minded people, learning and supporting one another through regular activity and social sessions.
It costs £64 per client per month on our
THRIVE Programme.
Both of these services are greatly subsidised, costing the client just £25/month, which in some cases can be subsidised even further.
It is through grant funding and fundraising that we are able to offer the subsidy.

THRIVE programme.
Your donation helps people across that initial hurdle of valuing themselves and their journey to improved health.
What happens on the 12 week programme? Our team of staff are committed to improving both physical and mental health and well-being by offering tailored programmes jointly created between clients and our specialist exercise professionals. We provide education, advice and interventions, which include supervised gym sessions, specialist Healthy Options classes, re-ablement services, signposting and support to access existing activities and networks within our community—i.e. social prescribing. Critically, We are leaders in supporting people to learn and integrate positive health behaviours.
Why the community needs us We address the needs of our community members who live with one or more life-long medical condition; we support people who are at risk of developing such conditions; we support people who are socially isolated.
Referrals for our
ADAPT service come from GPs and Health Professionals.
Referrals for our
THRIVE programme can also be done through third sector groups or self referral.
Our impact on the community
Having gone through a very difficult time Healthy Options have given me a reason to get myself back into getting myself back into a routine and meeting people. I also feel a lot fitter and always feel good after a class. The support I have received from the staff has been “above and beyond the call of duty. They never fail with their enthusiasm and kindness at each class. I for one have a lot to thank each and every member of staff (Eleanor)
Healthy Options is a tremendous venture and all the staff are so supportive. Just back from a Thrive class on stretch and balance and even after a few weeks I am much more supple than before. I also went through a spell of social anxiety where it was really difficult to be with people ( usually my most favourite thing) and with the help of the team and other Thrive participants I was able to ease myself back into these situations….life changing ! My confidence has grown so much since starting with healthy options, my mental health has improved, I’ve lost weight and I am enjoying exercising again! I’m able to run a 5K comfortably but when I first started I struggled with 10 minutes walking on the treadmill. I notice a difference when I am at work and I don’t get so breathless, my job is very physical so I can see a massive improvement in stamina and just general strength. I feel like apart of the community and without that I would still be struggling. Thanks so much to you all for the hard work you all do! (Nicole)
I've been part of Healthy Options for 8 months.
The classes have been hugely positive for me, both physically and mentally.
My general fitness has improved, my joints, particularly troublesome knees, are stronger and more flexible. This is helping me manage Arthritis much better.
I have lost some weight, and feel more confident.
More work for me to do, but I'm very happy.
