This Fund has been set up in memory of popular Norfolk teacher Luke Day to support young people in Norfolk up to the age of 18 to access outdoor, cultural and music opportunities. Schools, groups and individuals across the county are encouraged to raise funds to sustain this fund, which offers grants to schools to help with the cost of offering extra-curricular trips and activities. The fund can also offer support to individual students who may be excluded financially from taking part.
Why the community needs usThrough the fund schools can offer children and young people access to unique, character building and life changing experiences, including opportunities to travel and try new things. The fund is open for applications - for full details of how to apply visit www.norfolkfoundation.com or contact the Grants Team on 01603 623958/ email grants@norfolkfoundation.com. Applications can only be made by schools.
Our impact on the communityFunds have been raised by supporters through a wide range of activities including sponsored walks, a triathlon, a Paris Marathon run, and a marathon cycle ride from John O'Groats to Land's End. Students from Ormiston Victory Academy (formerly Costessey High School, where Luke taught) marked the launch of the fund on 15 July 2011 with a 'Walk for a Day' in memory of Luke and to help raise funds.
