About

The Greater Manchester Migrant Destitution Fund supports destitute migrants who are denied the right to work or access benefits. Forced into lives of intense poverty and often hidden homelessness, people face severe impacts on physical and mental health, and can be exposed to abuse and exploitation.

The Fund (administered by Macc) provides cash grants of up to £80 per month. We help meet essential needs, ease pressure on physical and mental health, reduce dependence on others, and restore a degree of dignity. Over the first two years since opening in April 2020, we gave out 1400 grants, a lifeline for hundreds of the most marginalised in our city region.

But with around 100 grants being paid out every month, we need your support to maintain this crucial lifeline. As the escalating cost of living crisis hits the most vulnerable the hardest, will you donate monthly to ensure that the fund can stay open?

As one recipient of the Fund told us:

"For 7 years I didn’t get any money. How am I supposed to live? Depression. I want to tell you that the Migrant Destitution Fund is helping us. It helps a lot for me. It helps with our mental health".

The fund shouldn’t have to exist. But as long as the hostile environment around migration persists, we need to keep the fund open to continue offering dignity, choice, and justice to people like Ruvimbo or Kamrul.

By donating today you can keep this critical lifeline open.
