One of a handful of Theatre Companies of Sanctuary in the UK and associates of Derby Theatre, Maison Foo exist to create mischievous arts and events that challenge audiences, tickle imaginations and are rooted in social conscience.

We were awarded Theatre Company of Sanctuary status in 2018, and now the majority of our work is created with and for people seeking sanctuary - by this we mean refugees and asylum seekers who may be new to their host communities or settled for many years.

Though we are a theatre company, our work spans across lots of different artforms, including installation, pop up events, workshops and visual art. Our project teams are diverse and members often have lived experience of seeking sanctuary and/or migratory heritage. It is vital that we make space for diverse voices and stories, and your support will give empowering opportunities for those that are often marginalised.

We are currently fundraising for our Creative Sanctuary Group - twice monthly, people seeking sanctuary who live in Derbyshire come together with us and specialist facilitators to get creative, boost wellbeing and plan their very own projects.
