Diving deeper to investigate maritime archaeology and heritage and make it accessible for all
We have been researching, investigating and pioneering techniques for the study of marine cultural heritage including shipwrecks, drowned landscapes, ports & harbours and coastal industries, for over 25 years. We place involvement and learning for all at the heart of our work through our programme of volunteering opportunities, activities and resources. We are fundraising to support delivery of our education and outreach programmes.
Why the community needs usWe overcome barriers to take maritime archaeology to the masses - taking resources and hands-on activities out to communities, schools, groups and individuals using our Discovery Bus. Using technology to present sites through 3D models and virtual reality headsets. Displaying fascinating artefacts at the Shipwreck Centre and Maritime Museum, Arreton, Isle of Wight.
Our impact on the communityRescuing archaeology under threat. Recording sites for future generations. Researching to piece together archaeological clues which can rewrite history based on new discoveries. Respecting by commemorating those lost with their ships and remembering those lost at sea during conflict. Reaching out by taking discoveries to schools and communities and training volunteers.
