Open Door works to relieve the hardship caused by homelessness and to enable life choices to be made
Open Door works with and for homeless people and those who are 'vulnerably housed' to support them into accommodation and to reintegrate into society. They do this through providing 2 weekly drop ins where people can eat a hot meal and access advice and support services such as housing, health, mental health and drug and alcohol support. The Drop In sees around 50 people each week.
Why the community needs usReducing and preventing homelessness but also helping those who are homeless or vulnerably housed to improve their life choices by supporting them to work with other service providers. The benefit to the community is as above but also help in understanding the issues relating to homelessness
Our impact on the communityService users have been supported into finding settled accommodation. The Art Project and other learning initiatives linked with MK college have supported some users into employment or improving employment opportunities. Work with the mental health and substance misuse teams helps improve health outcomes.
