Supporting families of children and young people with vision impairment across Devon and Cornwall.
Moorvision is a support group for families of children and young people (aged 0 to 29 years) vision impairment in Devon and Cornwall. The group is open to all children with vision impairment, their parents, carers, siblings and extended families. We offer advice, support, advocacy, information, activities, sports, arts and drama, teenage evenings, parents evenings and parent training days.
Why the community needs us
Our aims are to offer support, information and a chance for shared experiences and to reduce the loneliness so often felt by children with vision impairment, (very many of whom are the only such child in their mainstream school) and their families in these very rural and often isolated areas.
Our impact on the community
So far, in seventeen years we have grown from 5 families to 260 families and extended our services throughout Devon and Cornwall as well as welcoming members from Somerset and Dorset. We support children who only have a vision impairment as well as those who have a vision impairment and additional needs. Our impact on the lives of these children and their families can be life changing.
