OSCAR Birmingham supporting children, young people and families affected Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia
We are a small voluntary organisation. Our aim is to help improve the quality of life for individuals especially children and families who are affected by a life limiting blood disorder Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia. We work to address and challenge social exclusion for those facing difficulties arising due to their disorder in addition to raising public awareness through education and training. We aim to influence social policy at local and national level.
Why the community needs usBirmingham has the 2nd highest prevalence of individuals affected by this genetic blood disorder. We are the only charity working to support families most in need and living with this life limiting condition.
Our impact on the community
We welcome individuals or are able to bring a wide range of skills, knowledge and experiences to help support our small charity.
