Pennine Heritage works to preserve and share the unique history, culture, and environment of the South Pennines. We own and operate the Birchcliffe Centre in Hebden Bridge, a stunning Grade II listed former Baptist chapel, which now serves as a community hub home to local businesses and events.

Pennine Heritage is also home to the South Pennine Archives, which combines the document archives of the Hebden Bridge Local History Society with the Pennine Horizons Digital Archive of over 50,000 digitized historic images. This is an incredible resource for researchers of the South Pennines, and a place for our communities to preserve their own heritage for future generations.

We are a charity run with the help of dedicated (and award-winning!) volunteers, who are motivated by their passion for the heritage of this incredible region. Funding from generous donors helps support our work to preserve this heritage in the archives, and share it with the public through exhibitions, events, workshops, and school programming. Please consider donating to support this work!
