To provide social & leisure activities for community members (most ages) who are disadvantaged by social or economic circumstances, in order for them to enjoy a better quality of life. The Local Authority is re-locating Prescot's social & leisure facilities to outer areas; this combined with the deprivation that already existed has left our community lacking in some areas. Vee's Place is fast becoming a hub where people can enjoy the old community spirit and get the community on the go again
Why the community needs usWe have set about providing activities & services to enable people (most ages) on low incomes, unemployed, poor health sufferers, people experiencing anti-social behaviour or living in isolation. Activities to suit all family members are at a cost they can afford. They can cement new friendships, share life's experiences and rekindle the old community spirit. We house a Tea Room/IT Suite/Minigym/Therapies/Spa & Workshops. We enjoy day trips/holidays/quizzes/ socials/pool/darts/table tennis
Our impact on the communityIt reduces incidents of youth crime & people living in isolation; less people visit their GP which delays the need of a place in a care home; intergenerational skills enhance community spirit & mutual respect; workshops are invaluable to help enhance chances of employment; placements allow underachievers and unemployed graduates to work alongside each other and gain work experience; sports activities allow members to challenge/be challenged; and the elderly benefit from use of technology.
