Aim – To provide a helpline which creates a safe space for survivors of rape and sexual abuse to speak to trained volunteers and/or qualified counsellors who will listen, validate and empathise with them. Red Kite will provide psychological first aid. We will triage their needs, making onward referrals to other agencies as appropriate.
We will provide therapy through a variety of means, whether one-to-one or in groups, as best suits the individual. Red Kite will provides therapy (free at the point of contact) to enable survivors to learn new coping strategies, to manage their everyday lives and responsibilities, and to heal enough to live full, happier lives in their communities. Clients’ qualitative improvement will be monitored by standard assessment tools and securely recorded for performance reporting purposes. We will campaign to improve the effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System so that more survivors see their perpetrators convicted and punished for the crimes committed against them. We collaborate with Universities to increase the effectiveness of systems and ensure that therapies provide are evidence based and rooted in best practice.
