The provision of Advice, Information and Support to vulnerable young people who are homeless or are threatened with homelessness within Derwentside.

SHAID offer a valuable service to the youth within the area. Many of the young people we work with come from deprived backgrounds with little family support and need assistance to make the succesful transition to independent living. Our support is broken down to three core areas:Advice & Information (assessment of need and assistance in securing a tenancy);Floating Support (help to maintain a tenancy);The Neighbour Hut (peer support and training opportunities).

To date, SHAID has worked with over 2000 young people, enabling them to make the successful transition to independent living.
