Providing a safe and nurturing environment to enable girls aged 5-7 to have fun and help others.
The aim of Guiding is to help girls and young women develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to society. At SBE Rainbows in Milton Keynes we do this by encouraging all members to participate in a varied programme which includes lots of fun activities such as crafts, challenge badges, games and trips away. Girls, teenagers and adult volunteers from all sections of the community benefit from the opportunities that Guiding provides. Why the community needs us
The skills that Rainbows, and the volunteer leadership team develop by attending Shenley Brook End Rainbows in Milton Keynes contributes positively to the local community. Not only does the individual gain valuable interpersonal and life skills such as leadership, caring for others and gaining in confidence but the wider community benefits from promoting responsible citizens of the future. Rainbows get involved in a number of worthwhile charitable events to support other organisations. Our impact on the community
The unit is self-financing and is run by a dedicated leadership team of volunteers. The Rainbows and young leaders get fully involved in deciding the programme of activities each term. Cooking, sewing, singing, making crafts as well as team building games are just a few of the fun activities Rainbows get up to. Additional funding enables us to subsidise visits to make them accessible to all within the unit. We are looking forward to visits out and future sleepovers
We always welcome volunteers who can come along to help with our weekly meetings or other events, or who can share skills or help in a support role. All regular volunteers need to be DBS and reference checked through Girlguiding UK.
