Stitches in Time is an arts and educational charity, changing lives through innovative projects
We work with young people, women, and elders groups to make lives better, and instill new sustainable skills. Our projects are creative, fun, and we always place people's ambitions and aspirations at the heart of what we do. We design and facilitate individual workshops, through to long-term projects and big community events. We use arts, skills learning, and one-to-one support as mediums for social benefit.
Why the community needs usTower Hamlets faces some of the toughest challenges in the UK, with child poverty and unemployment at record levels. Whether it's the small steps of raising the confidence of someone in long-term unemployment and getting them into work, or battling social isolation for our elders, we produce direct results that benefit our communities and help other organisations learn from our work.
Our impact on the communityLast year we worked with over 2000 people! Among those, over 50 women got confidential one-to-one advice on issues ranging from housing, to employment, and domestic violence. 62 local children had a safe space to play and learn over the holidays. 35 unemployed women enrolled onto our FabricWorks textiles social enterprise training course, making portfolios and CVs, learning new skill. We've had some great successes in helping people along, and bringing people of diverse cultures together.
We love meeting new people, and are happy to welcome those that want to lend a hand. All skills are welcome!
