Did you know that 30% of children in Milton Keynes live in poverty? That's 9 children in a classroom of 30. For many of these families the demands of housing, bills and unexpected costs leave them with little money left to put food on the table. With the cost of living rising, more families are struggling to make ends meet, and an unexpected bill, death in the family, job loss or other crisis can have a profound impact on the ability to put food on the table. Our aim is to get food into the tummies of the most vulnerable children in MK whenever they need it. We store meal kit boxes in nurseries, schools, family centres and community hubs across the city so that their staff can invite vulnerable families to take one home any day they might need it. The boxes contain the ingredients needed to cook an easy, child-friendly, hot and healthy meal and a recipe card so families can cook it over and over - even on a small budget. With the help of Meals, we believe every child in Milton Keynes can go to bed with a full tummy every day of the year. Join us!
