About

The Wheel is Merton's waste reduction & circular economy hub. We are working to reduce consumption based waste in the local area. We are doing this by building capacity on a borough-wide scale to reduce, reuse and recycle. We link existing circular initiatives and enterprises with residents & businesses, raise awareness, support volunteering networks, skill-share opportunities and improve connectivity.

Why is this important?

This project is grounded in waste reduction and the circular economy and directly contributes to Merton Council’s target of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. But no council can achieve it’s target without support from the community. We aim to support the community to take action to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill, incinerate or export to other countries and live in more circular neighbourhoods.
