Swan Advocacy provide free, independent advocacy services in Somerset, BaNES & South Gloucestershire
Swan Advocacy provide support to individuals who are disadvantaged and experiencing marginalization due to attitudes towards old age, illness or disability. Independent advocacy is recognised as an effective way of ensuring people retain greater control over their lives and are able to make more informed choices leading to improved access to services.
Why the community needs us
Through advocacy we help support and empower vulnerable people to address various challenges they are faced with, such as financial poverty, inadequate care provision, re-assessment of benefits, challenging housing needs, social isolation or significant risk of abuse or exploitation; they may not have an appropriate family member or friend to stand up for their rights and represent their interests.
Our impact on the community
Since our establishment in 1999 we have delivered high quality cost effective independent advocacy services to over 7000 vulnerable people. We have been an additional voice alongside the voice of the person in need of advocacy support, guided by that person, empowering those supported to be heard and understood.
We are looking for individuals in the areas we serve from a range of backgrounds. If you are looking for a great opportunity, valuable experience or to develop your existing skillset, we have a range of roles available, contact us for more details.
