Gellideg Foundation Group (GFG) was set up in 1997 by the community to make life better for local people. In Merthyr Tydfil we have high levels of disability and child poverty, with many households in crisis. The GFG provides immediate and long-term support to stop this cycle of deprivation. We own the first Passivhaus community Centre in Wales – from this Wellbeing Centre our staff and volunteers deliver services that change people’s lives. We deliver a community pantry, warm hub heating help, early years and family support, a youth programme, dementia activities, help for carers, family holiday programmes, environmental schemes and food and physical exercise programmes. We support 800 people for the long term and our motto is “the future is ours to create !”
