Planting trees for the next generation!
As Tortworth Arboretum was abandoned for almost 20 years, there is a significant gap in the age of our trees. Trees live for a certain number of years when they eventually succumb to ill-health or high winds. We have an exciting planting plan to re-populate the arboretum as our older trees come to the end of their lives. We are re-introducing species which are recorded in the first planting records of the Arboretum in 1853, as well as exploring new varieties which will cope with our changing climate. By sponsoring a tree planting, you are making a huge contribution to the future of Tortworth Arboretum and ensuring this enchanting woodland is restored for future generations! What's included?
Our Collections Manager will source a sustainably grown tree sapling from one of our small-scale tree nursery partners, you will have the choice between a handful of appropriate species from our planting plan. You can choose to plant with your family, friends or corporate team under the guidance of our Collections Manager. We will ensure your trees is well maintained for 5 years, this includes watering it during droughts and weeding around it's base to give it the best start in life. After 5 years the tree should be well established and able to fend for itself. We will publish a special blog post about tree with it's story of origin and can dedicate this to person or organisation.
