Every year hundreds of people from around Wolverton and Greenleys join the lantern festival to celebrate and enjoy being part of their community.
It's organised by volunteers who work through the year to make it happen. We work with professional artists setting up lantern-making workshops in the community, giant lanterns with local schools, and putting it all together on the day (which in 2024 is on 7th December).
The festival lights up the winter night with lanterns, samba bands, choirs, local food and craft stalls, Bhangra dancers, belly dancers, Wolverton Town Band, Father Christmas, majorettes, roller skaters, stilt walkers, unicyclists and you.
How can I help?
Your donation will help with the running costs of the festival which include:
- contributing to the cost of lantern making kits
- Hiring live street bands that add a musical flair to our event.
- Renting the necessary equipment to facilitate the workshops and performances.
- Paying artists to lead the educational workshops that are integral to our festival.
