The 73,000 young people in care in the UK are amongst the most disadvantaged in society, most having suffered serious abuse or trauma in early life. Many have to leave care before they're ready, often with unaddressed mental health issues, and desperately lacking the support they need to cope with the transition into adulthood. As a result, they are are four times more likely to homeless or caught up in crime than peers. The pandemic and collective national anxiety has exacerbated this.
Introducing Young Futures

Young Futures is committed to helping care-leavers/those preparing to leave care overcome adversity and trauma and build happy, meaningful lives. We support over 40 care leavers (age 16-21) in our residential unit/semi-independent flats in the community London.

We offer a holistic package of support to young people at this crucial time, that has a lasting positive impact on their future mental, physical and social well-being. We provide bespoke programmes of support built on our three key services of one-to-one support, therapy and accommodation.

By supporting young people leaving care on their journey into adulthood, we help them move towards practical, financial, social and emotional independence and a happier and more fulfilling future. They are more likely to become productive members of society and find employment and less likely to become involved in the criminal justice system or to be homeless. Our support transforms lives and futures, providing much-needed stability and the kind of warm and nurturing relationships that provide a base for long-term change.

Young Futures is more important than ever to help London's young care leavers cope with the isolation, loneliness and increased fear that the coronavirus pandemic has created. #nevermoreneeded
