The Vale of Snaith Action Group in Yorkshire is a voluntary group that promotes walking in the 50 square miles around the market town of Snaith. Members of the nationwide Walkers are Welcome organisation, they have been in operation for eight years and have raised over £20,000 to fund walking related projects. They focus on activities and encouragement for people to walk in the Vale of Snaith for enjoyment as well as physical and mental health benefits.
Localgiving’s Magic Little Grants helped to fund a project called Village Link, a countryside pathway between Carlton and Drax with links to other neighbouring villages. It is a fully signposted route and is away from roads making it quiet, safe and pleasant.
Magic Little Grants funding enabled the Action Group to produce a leaflet that will be delivered to every house in the two villages. Other projects that they have completed include Heritage Walks and East Cowick Circular Walk and are currently working on the Cowick Royal Way – for which they are seeking funding.
