This June, I will be running 100km to raise money for a suicide prevention organisation called Men's Minds Matter. While November is often associated with men's mental health awareness, this is something that needs and deserves attention all year round.
This is a cause very close to the hearts of my family and me after the loss of my stepdad, Stuart, in August 2025.
Proactive approaches to suicide prevention, such as education surrounding impulse control and improving emotional regulation, are incredibly important. Toxic masculinity encourages emotional suppression, leading many men to feelings of overwhelm and defeat. This narrative must be challenged for men of all ages so fewer valuable lives are lost to suicide and fewer families, like mine, have to experience the loss of someone they love.
I will be sharing my progress throughout June. Every donation helps contribute towards the vital work Men's Minds Matter does to support men in crisis and families affected by suicide.
