No One Should Feel Alone at Christmas
Christmas is often portrayed as a time of joy and togetherness. But for many older people in our community, it can be one of the loneliest moments of the year.
In our recent survey of over 100 local older people, 72% told us that not having friends or family nearby makes Christmas especially difficult, and 65% said it is a painful reminder of someone they have lost. Four in five have either experienced loneliness themselves or know someone who has.
Behind these numbers are individuals in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend who may face the festive season without a warm conversation, a friendly smile or the company of a loved one.
Our survey revealed something powerful: simple acts of connection help the most. People shared that they feel supported by:
• “Being invited to join others.”
• “Meeting friends.”
• “Having someone visit for a cuppa and a chat.”
That’s exactly what our services provide. Through our Coach Club, Information & Advice, Dementia Support, and Digital Inclusion, we offer connection, confidence and companionship to people aged 50+ all year round. And at Christmas, this support matters more than ever.
Your Donation Creates Local Impact
Your gift, no matter the size, helps older people in our community feel included and valued.
Last year, we supported over 3,000 people across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend. Through our Coach Club alone, over 200 people enjoyed days out that led to new friendships and renewed confidence.
Will You Help Someone Feel Less Alone?
