Our wonderful chickens are much-loved members of Brickmakers Wood. They bring joy to visitors of all ages and help people connect with nature.

Their current enclosure has served us well, but it is run down and is no longer providing the level of protection we need. Foxes are a constant concern, and determined squirrels regularly find their way into the run, stealing food and causing disruption.

We’re raising funds to build a secure, walk-in chicken run using strong galvanised steel mesh panels, treated timber and other essential materials. The new design will create a safe, predator-resistant home while making it much easier for our volunteers to care for the flock. Being able to walk inside the enclosure will improve feeding, cleaning, health checks and daily interaction, making life better for both the chickens and the people who look after them.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help us create a safer, longer-lasting home where our chickens can scratch, dust-bathe and forage with confidence. In return, they’ll continue to provide comfort, companionship and unforgettable experiences for the hundreds of people who visit Brickmakers Wood each year.
